Are you kidding me here or what? In Doom the levels are designed around the double jump, verticality matters. No I'm sorry but call of duty is not heavily based around movement lol, nor are the levels. I’m not so daft as to think COD and Prey are “the same”, or Doom and Perfect Dark are interchangeable, but they all share some presentation and interactivity limitations, and it is really nice to be presented with a whole different way to play through an experience. You’ve gotta recognise that the FPS format really limits the scope of the experience you can give an audience, is what I’m getting at. From Rise of the Triad to Titanfall 2, there’s something out there for almost everyone. For everyone feeling they need to stand up for their Halo or Gears or Warzone or whatever We have had thirty years of FPS’ers now, and I’ve enjoyed shitloads of them. *edit I didn’t intend to start a FPS debate thread. In an ocean of endless Call of Eternally Doomed Black Ops Rooty Shooty titles, this might be the most interesting thing I’ve played in a decades.
In places it barely seems like a game, but I’m finding it genuinely mesmerising.
